Leitir Easaidh Path.

Start. Leitir Easaidh car park.

Route. Leitir Easaidh car park - Loch Leitire Easaidh - Loch na h-Innse Fraoich - View Point - Loch Leitire Easaidh - Leitir Easaidh car park.

Notes. An easy and short trail visiting two lochs and a viewpoint offering stunning views across a wild landscape to the surrounding mountains. The walk was over good paths with easy gradients; suitable for wheelchairs, pushchair's and prams. There are shelters and eco-toilets at a couple of points. We had an hour to kill, I was reluctant to embark on this short walk but Sue insisted, I honestly didn't realise how good the views would be.

After parking in the Leitir Easaidh car park we headed along a well made path, after passing through a large deer gate a small loch came into view, Loch Leitir Easaidh one of a number of fishing lochs along this path, the grass roofed building is a composting toilet if you feel the need. Passed another loch we strolled and another composting toilet before ascending to a low view point, the views back to the massive wall of Quinag were stunning, under gathering cloud Sail Ghorm, Sail Gharbh, Quinag itself and Spidean Coinich, on the other side of the glen the dark dome of Suilven towered above the Glencanisp Forest. With dark cloud bubbling over the hills of Assynt to the southwest and the fact we'd left our waterproofs in the car we thought it a good idea to head back sharp-ish, the weather can change so quickly in these parts.

Spidean Coinich as seen from the large gate mentioned in the text above.

Sue strides out on a good path advertised as being suitable for wheelchairs and prams.

Rippled by the breeze, Loch Leitir Easaidh, one of two fishing lochs passed en route.

Stunning views over the wild landscape of Assynt.

Leitir Easaich seen over Loch Leiter Easaidh with Sail Ghorm in sunlight and shade top right.

The wall of Quinag dominates many views on this short walk.

We've gained a little height, so Spidean Coinich tilts back into view, the southern end of the wall of Quinag.

To the south the dark mass of Suilven rises above the Glencanisp Forest.

A wild mountain landscape, again Quinag master of all it surveys.

Loch na h-Innse Fraoich.

Loch Assynt and Suilven.

A wonderful view to the Quinag massif, from left to right, Sail Ghorm and the long ridge to Sail Gharbh, right a bit more Quinag and right a bit more still Spidean Coinich before the long descent over Creag Mhor to the main road and Loch Assynt.

Time to head back, rain's sweeping down the glen from the south, our waterproofs are in the car.
